Debra Adams
BJ (Hons1A), QUT, BA (Journ), Monash.

Hello and welcome to thedullfig.

My name is Debra  Adams (Deb) and I’ve been studying journalism, media and communication for eleven years.

I’m heading toward the final stages of a doctoral candidature at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). I’m currently in the write-up stage.

My research examines how three different news media models use Internet Communication Technologies (netCTs) to engage citizens with public affairs. The study is particularly concerned with news blogs and journalism practice (see ‘Research’ tab for more details and research poster).

My specialised fields of study are journalism, media and communication, and creative writing. I also have interests and publications in journalism education (see ‘Publications’ tab). I have a Bachelor of Arts (Journ) and a Bachelor of Journalism (Hons). My BA includes literary studies, screen studies, philosophy, sociology and information technology. Each now holds significant relevance to my Higher Degree.

The topic of my current study requires an interdisciplinary approach to literature and methodologies. While the PhD is grounded— for the largest part—in journalism, media and communication, it also draws on internet studies, politics, sociology, economics and law.

My teaching experience includes tutoring and guest lectures in a number of units in the Creative Industries faculty at Kelvin Grove.

If you would like to contact me, please, I would love to hear from you. My email is the name of this blog at gmail, or @thedullfig dot com.

Hi Deb, it was great to meet you, albeit very briefly, this afternoon. I was just sitting here on my computer, blogging about social media marketing and Twittering away and Trudy asked what I was doing. It appears we have a couple of things in common! Nice blog, I’ve added you to list of feeds :)

    Matt
